New wire wrapped heart pendants!

I’ve been on a kick for making something different lately. With Valentine’s Day coming up, I guess hearts and love have been on my mind too. So this translated into making several wire wrapped heart pendants with gemstones in various metal wire colors, stones and styles.

Wire wrapped heart pendant in copper wire with peridot birthstone gemstones, Celtic design bail and antique copper chain with spirals and swirls handmade by PhoenixFire Designs on etsy.
This handmade pendant was hand shaped in solid, tarnish-resistant copper wire and then hammered to bring out texture and also to harden the wire. I then wire wrapped micro faceted peridot rondelles along the outer frame and added swirls and spiral accents plus a matching spring green peridot teardrop accent. It also features a large, decorative Celtic bail and hangs on a 20″ antique copper chain.

So what do you think? Do you like the new experimental pieces I’ve been making lately? I have a bunch of in-progress pendants as well in other shapes like spirals and swirls and circles which I’m still refining and working on perfecting. I’m never going to stop making my trees of course, but I just thought it might be fun to step outside of my comfort zone and try some new things. Plus, it’s something fresh and makes me stop and think about the creative process a little more. I can make trees by muscle memory these days after making thousands of them! But these shapes require me to focus more and stop and figure out how I need to complete each one.

These three are all One of a Kind pieces and are listed in PhoenixFire Designs shop on etsy – while they last! I will also be adding more styles and options as I go.

Every month of the year has birthstone associated with it. Each month has a primary gemstone and several also have an alternate or two as well. What’s nice about birthstones is that it’s a great way to celebrate family (such as children, grandchildren, siblings, etc.) in jewelry.

There are many myths and legends about the healing, spiritual and mythological power of birthstones. It is said that wearing a gemstone during the month it represents enhances it’s power and influence for the wearer. Though the concept of birthstones date back thousands of years, the modern list has been around since 1912 and the only update in all that time has been the inclusion of “modern” gemstone, Tanzanite, to be added for December’s birthstone.

Regardless of whether or not you believe the gems hold mystical properties, they remain beautiful and attractive and a wonderful way of symbolizing and celebrating friends, loved ones and family!

Apple Trees!

My apple trees are back in stock! Available in non tarnish silver or brown, these adorable tree of life wire wrapped pendants have peridot leaves and ruby red jade apples. Too cute!

No forbidden fruit here! This adorable Apple Tree Pendant features genuine Peridot Gemstone leaves with faceted ruby red jade round apples set in sterling silver plated wire.

The Tree of Life is a concept that’s been featured in myth, story and legend literally all around the world. Since ancient times, people have used variations on the theme. Connecting all things – the realms of the spirit, the physical, the Divine and the mundane – the roots of the Tree and the branches touch all things and bring them together in harmony.

The leaves are made from genuine Peridot gemstone. Peridot is a natural, semi-precious gemstone in the most amazing green color. The birthstone of August, it has been considered sacred and a symbol of purity for thousands of years. It was considered a stone of Springtime and a gift of Mother Nature by the Ancients. It is a stone of lightness and beauty and is said to enhance wellness in the spiritually aware. Peridot does have natural, minor inclusions but this is just part of the character of the stone.

The apples are made from 4mm faceted jade beads. This is known as “candy jade” and is dyed to achieve uniform, deep, rich color. It makes perfect apples and the color really pops with the bright, Spring green of the Peridot.

Apple trees always remind me of Autumn as a child growing up in rural, Western Pennsylvania. My uncle had a farm and an apple orchard. Each year, my Mom would climb the trees and toss apples down to me to gather in laundry baskets (which always did double duty during harvest season!) Nothing was every better than an apple fresh from the tree on a crisp, fall day!

Custom Birthstone Tree of Life Pendant

Because everything I make is made by hand, it allows me to fully customize and personalize pieces. One of my favorite things to make are custom pendants that incorporate birthstones for Mothers and Grandmothers.

This piece features the birthstones of March (semi-precious blue topaz in substitution for aquamarine), July (precious Ruby), and August (semi-precious peridot) all together in non-tarnish, sterling silver plated wire.

From the happy customer:

As the recipient of this piece, I can attest to its amazing quality and beauty. One that left even my husband speechless. This is going to be one of the most meaningful and breathtaking presents I am giving this year.

This makes for a treasured, heirloom piece that has deep, personal meaning and brings joy to the wearer. I made a custom birthstone tree for my own Mother and she never fails to smile when someone compliments her on it and she can say it represents her daughters.

If you’d like a piece made especially for you, with birthstones of family members, or in memorial of those who have passed, just contact me. I’d love to make something that makes you smile and reminds you of your loved ones too.
