Because everything I make is made by hand, it allows me to fully customize and personalize pieces. One of my favorite things to make are custom pendants that incorporate birthstones for Mothers and Grandmothers.

This piece features the birthstones of March (semi-precious blue topaz in substitution for aquamarine), July (precious Ruby), and August (semi-precious peridot) all together in non-tarnish, sterling silver plated wire.

Perhaps you love my custom birthstone bird nest pendant but have too large of a family. Or, maybe you want to celebrate an extended friends and/or family. If you need more than 4 birthstones together in one piece, this is the perfect option for you!

You can choose between 5 and 12 pearl colors in any combination you would like. The first example shows five pearls (September, July, May, April and February.) The second example is actually the inspiration for this style. A customer needed nine pearls and asked if I could put them all in a line for her. (The months are November, September and October in that piece.) It was such a great idea, I decided to offer it to everyone!

My Custom Birdnest Pendants are a really simple and lovely way to celebrate family and friends. By selecting 2-4 birthstones, I can make a piece that’s special and meaningful just to you.

Here’s a recent example I made for a customer:

This one features May (dark green for emerald), July (bright red for ruby) and August (the spring green for peridot). This was a Mother’s day gift and her Mom just loved it. Each piece is unique and completely personalized. It’s made with non-tarnish silver plated wire and glass pearls. (Glass pearls are a nice option too for those who are vegetarian and/or vegan since they’re man-made and thus, cruelty-free.) They’re great gifts for Moms, Grandmothers, family (siblings, cousins, etc.), or even just friends. Maybe you just want one made in color(s) you like!

One of the things about being a jewelry designer is that there’s a lot of opportunity to make gifts for people instead of buying them. For example, this Mother’s Day, I made my Mom a custom Family Tree pendant with my birthstone, my sister’s birthstone and her birthstone. I tend to work in silver primarily, but Mom is much more of a gold woman, so I picked up some 14K gold-fill wire just for her piece. (Gold fill is pure gold in basically a thick plating. With gold $1500/oz right now, even though it’s not solid gold all the way through, it’s still gold, and thus, not exactly cheap!)

The gemstones are April – White Topaz (substitute for diamond), May – Emerald (genuine), and August – Peridot.

Mom has been wearing it every day since she reports and has even gotten compliments on it when she was out for lunch the other day. Something like this is a unique way to show family ties and to remind her of the three of us together.

I’ve made Family Trees for other people as well, so if you want one made for yourself – in silver, gold, with chips or rondelles, small or large – just drop me a note. I’m happy to work with you on something custom that’s meaningful and beautiful for your enjoyment.

I made this piece as a Mother’s Day gift. Her mom wears a lot of blue and brown and that’s a great color combo together so I ran with it. I used some Swarovski crystal accents, genuine Swarovski crystals in round and bicone and finished it with a Swarovski clasp. It’s pretty enough for a special occasion but can also be worn everyday to work or just out for the day.
