Rainbow Gemstone Threader Sterling Silver Earrings

Six genuine gemstones (ruby, yellow sapphire, emerald, blue topaz, amethyst and white topaz) form a rainbow of color on sterling silver ear threads.

I started with a sterling silver, ball tipped headpin and then strung six genuine gemstones on. All gemstones are high quality, micro faceted rondelles. The ear threads are .925 sterling silver as well and thus hypoallergenic for those sensitive to some metals.

The gemstones used in the piece starting from the bottom are:

* Ruby – one of four precious gemstones and the birthstone of July

* Yellow Sapphire – Another of the four precious gemstones, sapphire comes in many colors including this lovely yellow. Traditionally blue sapphire is the birthstone of September.

* Emerald – the third precious gemstone in this piece, emerald is the birthstone of May and an amazing green stone without peer.

* Blue Topaz – A semi-precious stone, blue topaz has a crystal clear blue sky color. It’s an alternative birthstone for December.

* Amethyst – Long associated with royalty, amethyst is a gorgeous and rich purple tone. This semi-precious stone is the birthstone of February.

* White Topaz – White topaz is a flawlessly clear crystal stone. It’s used as an alternative to diamond for April’s birthstone. Also semi-precious.

Threader style earrings allow you to adjust how long or short you wish to wear them. The gemstones measure about .25″ in length and the total length of the threader plus gems is right around 3.25″

They’re dainty and feminine. They would be a lovely gift for someone who likes rainbow colors, or who is interested in chakra healing and colors.

They would also be a very special gift for a young woman who may not want or need a large pair of earrings but for whom a pair of sterling silver gemstone earrings would be a special gift. It could be a pair of “grown up” jewelry all her own.

I only have the one pair of these at this time as I put them together with the extra gems leftover after other projects. To individually purchase this many stones to make a pair would be quite expensive so this is a great way to get some high quality gems in a lovely little, affordable package.

Chrome Diopside and Quartz Dangle Earrings in Sterling Silver

Though I’m still out on unpaid medical leave and will be for some time now (see all the details here), it seems like there are just never enough hours in the day! Not enough time to make, photograph, edit and list items let alone promote them. But here’s one I managed to get listed tonight. I have a few more things which are going to be listed soon but for now, this is the first of them.

Stunning gemstone earrings set all in sterling silver featuring 10mm AA-Grade Crystal Quartz Onion Briolette surrounded by amazing Chrome Diopside Rondelles with White Topaz Accents.

I started these stunning earrings with flawless, AA-grade Crystal Quartz in a 10mm onion shaped briolette. It’s faceted and clear as ice. Then I strung one of my all-time favorite gemstones, Chrome Diopside, on ball-tipped sterling silver headpins and made a cluster on top of the quartz. Above that are two white topaz faceted rondelles to finish out the earrings. They are finished with .925 sterling silver leverbacks.

Chrome Diopside isn’t as well known as other gemstones and though it has an ugly name, it’s one of the most stunning gems you’ll ever find. The color is so rich, so deep and so intense it just doesn’t seem real. But this is an all natural, untreated gemstone and the amazing vibrancy of the green paired with the cool icy perfection of the quartz makes for a really stunning look.

They measure just about 1.45″ in total length from top of leverback to bottom of the quartz. All findings in these are .925 sterling silver. The headpins also have little round balls on the tips giving them more interest and style.

Chrome Diopside is also called “Siberian Emerald” because of it’s rich, amazing green. Many people say Chrome Diopside is what Emerald wishes it could be when it grows up! The name Diopside is derived from the Greek word ‘di’ meaning two, and ‘opsis’, meaning vision. Diopside is believed to be a creative stone, increasing creative visualization and helping to manifest desired goals. Found only in remote Siberia, it can only be mined three months of the year making it a rare and valuable gemstone.

14K Gold Earrings Featuring Rainbow of Genuine Gemstones

A classically simple, dainty pair of earrings in 14k gold featuring a rainbow of genuine gemstones.

I started with a 14k gold filled, ball tipped headpin and then strung six genuine gemstones on. All gemstones are high quality, micro faceted rondelles. The French hooks are 14k plated and thus hypoallergenic for those sensitive to some metals.

The gemstones used in the piece starting from the bottom are:

* Ruby – one of four precious gemstones and the birthstone of July

* Imperial Topaz – a very rare form of topaz, these are pale yellow in color. Topaz is the birthstone of November and is semi-precious.

* Green Tourmaline – Tourmaline comes in a variety of colors and this one is a lovely olive tone. Tourmaline is semi-precious.

* Blue Topaz – Another semi-precious stone, blue topaz has a crystal clear blue sky color.

The earrings measure a total length just shy of 1.5″ long. They’re dainty and feminine. They would be a lovely gift for someone who likes rainbow colors, or who is interested in chakra healing and colors.

They would also be a very special gift for a young woman who may not want or need a large pair of earrings but for whom a pair of 14k gold gemstone earrings would be a special gift.

Mother’s Day

One of the things about being a jewelry designer is that there’s a lot of opportunity to make gifts for people instead of buying them. For example, this Mother’s Day, I made my Mom a custom Family Tree pendant with my birthstone, my sister’s birthstone and her birthstone. I tend to work in silver primarily, but Mom is much more of a gold woman, so I picked up some 14K gold-fill wire just for her piece. (Gold fill is pure gold in basically a thick plating. With gold $1500/oz right now, even though it’s not solid gold all the way through, it’s still gold, and thus, not exactly cheap!)

The gemstones are April – White Topaz (substitute for diamond), May – Emerald (genuine), and August – Peridot.

Mom has been wearing it every day since she reports and has even gotten compliments on it when she was out for lunch the other day. Something like this is a unique way to show family ties and to remind her of the three of us together.

I’ve made Family Trees for other people as well, so if you want one made for yourself – in silver, gold, with chips or rondelles, small or large – just drop me a note. I’m happy to work with you on something custom that’s meaningful and beautiful for your enjoyment.

April Tree – White Topaz in Sterling Silver

My sister’s birthday is in April. April 2nd to be exact. And of course, that means her birthstone is diamond. As we all know, diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but they’re not very easy on the wallet! I wanted to make something for her this year and I came across a lovely stone called White Topaz. Now, topaz comes in a variety of colors – most commonly things like blue and yellow – but it also comes pure. The pure version is known as White Topaz. And it’s a brilliant alternative to diamond because of it’s clarity and beauty. In fact, people buy white topaz engagement rings since it offers so much more for the money.

So I made an April Tree for my sister and had enough of the gorgeous little micro-faceted rondelles left over to make another one for the shop! So without further ado, here’s the lovely pendant available:

Measuring approximately 1.5″ x 1.5″ not including the bail, this is a positively perfect size for both everyday and special occasion wear. The bail will accommodate just about any chain. It’s a great gift for an April baby, or of course just anyone who loves the look of diamonds!
