PhoenixFire Designs is the home-based business of Miss M. Turner. (See "Artist" for more info.) It's a one-woman operation located out of Florida.

PhoenixFire Designs started as a sub-domain of the personal website of M. Turner but gained it's own, full domain in 2005.

Every piece featured on PhoenixFire Designs is handmade using a variety of materials. Glass, lampwork glass beads, genuine, full-leaded Swarovski crystal, sterling silver Bali beads, natural gemstones and anti-tarnish silver plated accent beads are just some of the many types of components featured in our jewelry.

Each piece is unique and generally one of a kind. Occasionally, if a piece that has sold receives further inquiries, additional pieces are made on a custom-order basis. There is never more then a handful of any particular design in existence however as they are handmade and never mass-marketed.

Quality is important. And I'm sure you can appreciate the difference between something hand crafted by an artesian and something made by a machine in a third-world country. All PhoenixFire Design pieces are made with pride and with the greatest attention to detail.

Q: How do I care for my jewelry?

Your handmade jewelry should last for years with proper care. Never expose your jewelry to harsh chemicals or put pieces in jewelry cleaners. They are designed for metal only and your handcrafted jewelry items will be damaged by such products. Pay careful attention to pieces with Swarovski crystal. Use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe off any fingerprints or dust that may gather. It's best to store your pieces in a jewelry box or away from sunlight as the UV rays may damage or prematurely age your jewelry. Like anything else, the sun can bleach or distort color when left in direct exposure.

Q: I have discoloration/tarnish on the metal of my piece. Is this normal? How do I fix it?

Yes, that's completely normal. The process is called "oxidation" and it's a chemical reaction between the metal and the air. Happens in almost all types of metal. You can get a simple silver polishing cloth from any jeweler or mass-marketer for a few dollars. Gently rub the metal beads to bring back the shine and luster. Keeping your pieces in air-tight bags or boxes will help slow down the process of oxidation.

Q: I have an allergy to ______. (Nickel is a common metal allergy.) Can I wear your pieces?

Yes, but you'll have to custom order a piece to include ONLY sterling accessories. I use a variety of metals and mixed metals in my work. Most items should be possible with sterling only accents, hooks and closures, but there might be extra cost involved as sterling accessories are a premium product.
